"Hold on, baby hold on, 'cause it's closer than you think, and you're standing on the brink, hold on, baby hold, on 'cause there's something on the way, your tomorrow's not the same as today"-
Kansas
When I compete, there comes a time towards the end of the race when I'm feeling like I have nothing left to give. I've put out the effort and energy and I'm really feeling it; the pain can be pretty intense. I try to reach deeper into the tank for that final stretch run to the finish, but there's not much left. It's decision time - whether or not I finish generally isn't in question, but HOW I finish remains in doubt. So many thoughts run through my head.....how much longer can I hold on, how much more pain can I endure, why does every body part hurt, why did I sign up for this @$@*# race, why does this have to be so hard? Holding on and pushing through the pain and doubt in the midst of a competition's most difficult moments is not easy - but it's necessary. I
always find that by getting through these moments and persevering through to the finish, giving more than I thought I had in me, I come out stronger and more capable.
For me, these tough race moments mirror life's most challenging times. How do you hold on for one more day when you feel like you've given all? How can you get through what seems impossible? You simply decide that these moments will not get the best of you, that there will be a tomorrow and you will be there to see it. Holding on requires that you surround yourself with people who love you, care for you, and will encourage you. Holding on requires taking the focus off yourself and investing in the needs of others - you'll find there is always someone hurting more than you. Holding on requires taking specific actions which will serve to strengthen and sustain you for the long run. And holding on requires taking all of your anxieties and concerns to the One who cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold on when everyone else would understand if you packed it in, that's true strength.”
So hold on. Don't give in. Keep the Faith. Endure....and
