And you were about to complain about what?

I'm watching The Today Show this morning, and Matt Lauer is interviewing Christa Brelsford, a student from Arizona State University, who was trapped under a collapsed building in Haiti. From her hospital bed in Miami, she told Matt Lauer about her ordeal....all the while, with the biggest smile on her face. She's lost at least one leg so far - but she hasn't lost her passion for life or her perspective. I fully expected her to break down and cry at any moment - surely, she realizes that she's going to be living the rest of her life without a major appendage. But that moment never came. The smile never left her face. The passion never stopped flowing. Instead of despair, I saw gratitude. Instead of blame, I saw and heard BELIEF. Instead of "woe is me", I heard "there are so many others who never made it out of the rubble, and I am one of the lucky ones - our prayers and thoughts need to be with those who lost their lives". Christa Brelsford GETS IT! She was in Haiti serving a Purpose so much greater than herself, and I am convinced that she will truly LIVE the rest of her life impacting others and drawing them into a closer relationship with the One who has provided her that second chance. All too often our lives are a constant stream of complaints, excuses, and negative energy. Let Christa be our example today, and from every day moving forward. She had absolutely NO control over what happened to her, but she realizes that she FULLY controls how she responds to her circumstances and what becomes of the rest of her life. Can I get an AMEN? She BELIEVES.....and so should we.
